Track and Field provided a plethora of entertainment over the past few days at Paris 2024, especially when it came to the 100-metre sprints. Winning gold in the men’s category was Team USA’s star, Noah Lyles! On August 5, he became the fastest man in the world, crossing the finish line with a personal best time of 9.79 seconds. Lyles is an adidas athlete, and he was wearing this pair of premium adidas Y-3 Spikes during this triumphant victory.

Speaking after the win, Lyles said in a press release: ‘The last three years have all been leading up to today. After Tokyo, I knew the journey heading into Paris was going to be tough. The pressure was always going to be bigger than in 2021. But I put in the work and trained harder than I ever had before. Being able to call myself the world’s fastest man, it’s a special feeling.’

The spikes that Noah Lyles wore were made in collaboration with adidas and the Yohji Yamamoto-led sub-brand Y-3. Dubbed the Prime SP3 Strung, this speedy sneak has been kitted with a full-length spike plate with additional Lightstrike Pro forefoot cushioning. This particular model has been expertly designed yarn-by-yarn and is made to ‘wrap your feet in a seamless cocoon’.

Interestingly, in the press pen following the monumental win, Lyles was asked if he’s thought of the future, his profile in the sport and American track and field going forward. The gold-medal winner didn’t muck around, confidently stating ‘I want my own shoe. I want my own trainer’. When asked if he means a spike or a sneaker, he went on to say: ’No, I want a sneaker. There ain’t no money in spikes. There’s money in sneakers’.

As Noah Lyles is signed to adidas, could we be seeing a sneaker coming from the duo in the near future? Stay locked Sneaker Freaker to find out.
